McAfee teaches school children about online safety
Children sometimes unconsciously make themselves vulnerable by exposing themselves to the risks and dangers of the internet. To educate them about these risks and help them get online safely, McAfee employees will visit several schools across the country on May 16 to help children understand the pros and cons of the Internet. That day is McAfee Global Community Service Day, a day when McAfee staff go out to help people around the world.
Cyber education for children is central this year in the Netherlands. "For children, parents and teachers it is important that the dangers of the web stay far away, but that can only be done if the children know what the dangers are," said Gert-Jan Schenk, EMEA president of McAfee. 'On May 16, our employees will visit schools to tell in class what to look out for, what you should and especially not do when you are online and which tools can help you with that.'
The children of OBS De Wending in Roosendaal and the St. Jozef School in Moordrecht are the first to receive the McAfee employees and will soon know everything about safe internet. Of course it is not only just that one day. Parents or teachers from other schools who want the best for children or students can request a lesson on safe Internet use from McAfee after this date . Interested parties can send an email to onlinesafety@mcafee.com. We will quickly contact you to schedule a date.
The school visits are part of McAfee Cares - Online Safety For Kids, a global education initiative where volunteers educate school-aged children and their parents about safe and social use of the Internet. Online Safety For Kids works according to the principle 'think first, then act', based on the 'STOP' campaign. THINK. CONNECT. ' From the United States. This campaign, aimed at raising awareness of the dangers online, was developed by the STOP THINK. CONNECT. Messaging Convention, a partnership between the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), two organizations of which McAfee is a co-founder.
